Project 2 - Revised Logo
Working on my logo and trying out different colors to use (bright, vivid ones) and different ways to style the cupcake logo mark in both black and white and color versions.
I love the Sugar Daddy typeface! It looks like it's written with frosting! Your color choices are nice, too. You can probably play with that color palette for the packaging part or something... I'd go with the outlined cupcake w/ pink fill frosting for both b/w and color because I think it's the most legible.
I agree with Kittaya. The outlined cupcake with pink frosting is my favorite, too. The cupcakes that have the filled-in bottom look a bit too heavy, so the outline keeps the entire design looking very well-balanced. Great job, Abby!
Abby, I'm glad you did a bunch of variations, but please make sure to number them in the future because it makes it easier for me to reference a particular one. I agree that the pink frosting top and unfilled, outlined bottom (the one on the top left of the bottom set of six) is the most successful, but perhaps the outline can be thickened just a bit more? Also, what if you did not close the bottom part at the top (i hope that makes sense) so then the bottom part of the cupcake really looks like a u? It may or may not work, but it's a possibility. It's looking great and almost there!
I agree with everyone else, the outlined cupcake with the pink frosting is the one that works the best. The typeface is also working and it does look like frosting. I'm glad you chose this kind of direction rather than a more script looking font, which is overdone. I also like Tiffany's idea of making the bottom cup of the cupcake look like a u so it reads more as "sugar", but even if that doesn't work out, I have no problem already reading it as sugar.
Thanks for the comments guys! I'll work further on the outline cupcake in pink. I'll also try to thicken the u-shape of the cupcake. I tried eliminating the top line of the cupcake bottom, but it didn't look very good. It did not look like the cupcake parts belonged together. And next time I will be sure to number everything.

ReplyDeleteI like the logo a lot. The typeface looks very nice. I'd choose pink or yellow for the color. In my opinion, blue is not appetizing.
